The 300k trader

11/12/2009 | By More

There has been a lot of discussion on the forum about a person who often appears in a number of the horse racing markets each day. Their presence in the market is getting quite common and also quite easy to spot. Today there was nothing of note, but yesterday was  different.

In the 15:50 at Taunton the price had started to drift and this initiated a response. The response was a back bet of a whopping £300k, probably to try and stop the drift. You don’t see bets of that size very often! At least we now know that they have a decent sized bank at their disposal as well. Curious stuff. The order was pulled a few seconds later.

I left a good job in the consumer technology industry to go a trade on Betfair for a living way back in June 2000. I've been here ever since pushing very boundaries of what's possible on betting exchanges and loved every minute of it.
