Today at this exact time we marked the winter solstice. It’s a day I look forward to as it is the shortest day of the year. From now on in we are counting down to Spring, not up to mid winter.

The weather looks set to continue to play havoc with the sports and with only one meeting on at Southwell tomorrow, it’s time to get festive. We had big snow fall this afternoon and it lay down some of the heaviest snow I have ever seen in the UK. It also set off some lighting, which is very rare.

The snow arrived with perfect timing. The children are at home and I made the sensible decision to work from home. As soon as I had done enough for the day, we went out and had a whale of a time in the deep snow. We also helped a few cars escape various gradients, fool on anybody trying to drive in that weather.

I think that’s me done on the trading front for now. A bit of last minute shopping maybe, more playing in the snow tomorrow, definitely!
