More next manager markets, please
Not so long ago we bagged a really nice profit on the next Wolves manager market. For some time it looked like the world and his dog wanted Harry Redknapp to get the England job and it seemed a sensible appointment. You could have ad ‘arry to lay to 1.27 at best. But the FA, as they have proven on many occasions, are not the general population. They are a largely politcial entity.
Probably the broadest hint that Hodgson was being consider was an interivew with former FA Chairman Lord Triesman. He said “Roy Hodgson’s experience in international football would make him a good candidate for the England job”. You can see the full interview here: –

If you read his bio, it looks like he was a key England candidate in the year 2000. So far in his managerial career, spanning 36 years, he has managed 19 clubs. When I’ve analysed his England managerial career nothing has really stood out. His last international appointment was Finland, before that the United Arab Emirates. It’s certainly a colourful career and England’s performance at Euro 2012 will be a defining moment, one way or another.
