Inspiration overload!
The motto for the Olympics this year is ‘inspire a generation’. I think they are delivering in the UK, can’t comment on the view from the outside in.
Inspiration in an important word. Inspiration shows the way, leads people and asks them to step forward and take things to a new level, inspiration is good.
Seeing somebody successful should inspire you, not make you jealous. That first emotion is a strength, the second a weakness; you can little from it. I’ve been inspired by many very different types of people over the years, inquisitive as to their methods and ways and their approach to life. Finding people to aspire too has shown me the right path. Choosing the right people will allow you to drive forward and find things within yourself that you may not have seen. Now, when I reach a point of indecision, I simply look into myself and ask ‘What would xxx do’. That is how to use inspiration.
The Olympics has provided us with lots of inspiring moments, either through failures or successes. I’ve been to various Olympic venues as much as possible during the games to experience the drama unfolding. I also took my children with me and gave up a few other activities, it has been inspiring. This week I had some more inspiration with the Nasa / JPL mission to Mars. Inspiring because of the seemingly impossible task, the audacity of the solution, the ambition of the project and the amount of work, effort and skill that has gone into making it happen. Sport and Science are two different disciplines here, but both share the same amount of inspiration in my book. Many years of sacrifice without knowing if success was definately guaranteed, both walk the tight rope of success.
Last year I actually got to go to Pasadena and visit the JPL facility, so I was overjoyed when the rover touched down on Mars. The visit and watching the mission unfold has been amazing. I doubt I’ll ever be an astrophysicist, but that wasn’t the singular thing that drove me to visit JPL in California.
I’ll be sad to see the Olympics finish. It has been full of many moments and visiting the park and various venues has been great, watching the action, thrilling. I always wanted to go and watch the Olympics so having it right on your doorstep has been amazing. Hopefully I’ll
Some people stand on the edge of a cliff and admire the view, while others look at the horizon and wonder what’s over there. If you want to achieve something special, don’t just admire the view.
