Lots of ICE
Just completing a busy week. It was one of more research, a fair bit of trading and a ton of meetings with people in the industry.
This week there have been a number of industry events on in London, the main one is called ICE. I am at the last one this morning, before heading back to the office this afternoon. These events take place each year and it’s where all the glitterati from the world of gambling come together under one roof and that inevitably sparks a lot of discussion, debate and decision making for 2013. There is the odd party too 😉
Because of these events, which all coincide at the start of year, I tend to hold off a lot of my decisions in the early part of the year until I can meet everybody and get a clear picture of what people have planned.
I met a wide range of people from the industry and it’s great to see it still has a lot of vibrancy. The most important meeting for me was on Tuesday when I met with Betdaq. That was key because I wanted to understand the implications of the Ladbrokes acquisition. After representing the views of Bet Angel users and having a broader discussion, I left feeling that it was a very positive move that should benefit the betting exchange industry, directly and in-directly.
So, my stall is now set out for 2013. Just need to follow through on all the discussions from this week and wait for people to fulfill their promises. I get the feeling it’s going to be another busy year!
