Adding multiple soccer markets using Guardian

Bet Angel has so many useful features that many of them are hidden away and not immediately obvious.

For example, did you know you can quickly add all ‘Match odds’ markets for football (soccer) games happening on a particular date in the Guardian tool? And if you only want to bet on the premiership games, these are easy to add too.

Multi market trading is in high demand and the Guardian tool within Bet Angel is a great way of having Bet Angel interact with all the markets. Tie this in with the Watch List feature to easily keep an eye on all these markets (click here) and you have a fantastic set of tools that is frankly, unrivalled.

Here’s how to add all premiership games:

Open Bet Angel then Guardian by clicking on the green ‘G’ button near the top right.
In the market selection area you will find a ‘Soccer’ tab at the bottom. Click on this.
Click the ‘Matches containing’ radio button.
Type in ‘Barclays’.
Click on ‘Search’.

And you will now see a list of all upcoming Barclays Premiership games listed on the exchange.

Why not search by search term ‘Premiership’?

This would seem to be a reasonable way of going about this search but it’s worth taking a moment to understand how the search works. It starts by looking at the football lists and category tree provided by Betfair and how they named. For example, all English Premiership games are under a category called ‘Barclays Premier League’. This means we could search for ‘Premier’ but this will also include other leagues around the world with this word in their category.

Another example of this is the UEFA Champions League. If you search for ‘Champions’ you will get all games from catogories with ‘Champions’ in the title. So to narrow down the search use ‘UEFA Champions’ in the search box. But for the UEFA Europa league you could just search for ‘Europa’ as this is the only league that uses that particular word in the title.

Other leagues such as the Championship used to be searchable in this way. For example, last year you could type in ‘npower’ to get the Championship games and ‘Coca Cola’ before that. This year the Championship is sponsored by Sky Bet and strangely Betfair have removed references to this sponsor from their website and market tree. So for this league, searching for games requires a few more clicks.

Try using other searches such as ‘English’, ‘Scottish’ or ‘Spanish’ to bring up the games for the overall country. At the time of writing there are no scheduled games for the Spanish league so the search remains empty.

Quickly adding Match Odds, Correct score, Total goals or Over/Under markets

Right click on the date to bring up the options

One you have searched for relevant games there is a quick way of adding the markets you want to Guardian. You will be looking at a list of fixtures with dates. See the image on the right. If you right click on the date then you will be given the option to ‘Select All Match Odds’ for example. If you do this click on ‘Add’ and the markets will be added to Guardian.

Notice that Guardian will add all markets that have the words ‘Match Odds’ so you may need to remove some unwanted markets at this point if necessary such as ‘Second half match odds’ and so on. These markets are recent additions by Betfair and we are looking at making this select just the Match Odds markets in a future build.
