WBX – World betting exchange – Closes

I doubt many people noticed but on Monday WBX shut it doors to new business. They haven’t gone bust so all outstanding bets will be settled and the operations will continue until all business has been sorted out but citing a number of issues they have decided that enough is enough. You can read the notice on their site: –

I noticed there is no chatter on any forums about it, I guess a few posts may appear after I post this. But there in a nutshell is why WBX didn’t work.

I met with them once, but never had a follow up meeting. We hardly had any queries from customers about WBX. But that’s also true of other exchanges outside of Betfair and Betdaq. I think unless you attract a lot of fish and spend a lot of money then it’s hard to establish yourself in such a low margin business. Even if you do try and establish yourself it’s at great risk, especially when you are up against competitors with big budgets.

I left a good job in the consumer technology industry to go a trade on Betfair for a living way back in June 2000. I've been here ever since pushing very boundaries of what's possible on betting exchanges and loved every minute of it.
