Punting on politics

It wasn’t that long ago that we had fun and games trading the general election, but now another political market has risen to the fore.

The next Labour leader market is proving quite an interesting one. Yvette Cooper is providing the female interest, Andy Burnham is providing a centre left approach and then we have Jeremy Corbyn who is stoking up the far left of the party. There has been a lot of discussion on the topic and a thread is running on the forum which you can read. But basically the prices in the market have been all over the place offering some good opportunities to lay low.

Andy Burnham has traded as low as 1.84, Yvette Cooper at 2.50 and support for Jeremy Corbyn keeps coming in waves. He is traded as low as 2.06, but at a high of 980! Currently Andy Burnham is the short favourite but if the market so far is anything to go by, it wont stay that way.

Incumbents in the Labour Party are very opposed to Corbyn being elected the leader as they feel the party needs to progress from its roots. However the left wing of the party is keen to take its chance to put their man in power. Over one and a quarter million has been traded on the market already in the final vote takes place on 12th September.

It’s a really interesting market and one that’s worth a look. Click on this text to visit the next Labour leader market and have a read of the forum posts also to get some perspective.
