Manic Monday
It’s one of a handful of manic trading sessions you see during the year today.
There are 620 runners on the card today and 54 races. Sounds like heaven, but it can be hell. The markets are just often not strong enough to do anything with. You often get a lot of donkeys out and therefore you end up with some competitive handicaps at the lower end of the scale, but little money and little time to trade them.
If all races start on time, then there will be 8 clashes today. If races start on their average start time (usually later than post time) then we could see 16 clashes. Any variation to that will torpedo whole sections of the card from a trading perspective.
Today is a day where you probably won’t smash the ball out of the park, but the patient may be able to do something. I’m non-plussed about today. After a fab weekend there is no pressure on me to trade today, but you can choose to do that if you wish. There will be opportunities, but they will be much more transient than what you have just seen.
Today will be very different from the weekend. My highlight being a twenty minute period where I traded the 1000 Guineas well on both exchanges and the football! That busy twenty minutes reminded me why I love trading!
