My Betfair Birthday

I celebrated my ‘Betfair Birthday’ this week. It’s now been just over FIFTEEN years since I opened my account and started on Betfair. It’s also been a decade since the first version of Bet Angel was released. We are currently on version 1.40 with version 1.41 right around the corner.

When I first started my journey my eldest child was three, she is now eighteen and able to trade herself. I didn’t envisage that when I started! I also didn’t imagine myself still here, more or less doing the same thing.

It almost didn’t happen. I remember telling people that I had found a way to profit from gambling there was an incredible amount of resistance, but I did it anyway.

The last fifteen years has very much represented a personal journey. So much has happened and I’ve taken a lot from it. People who haven’t met me for a decade or so would see somebody they don’t recognise. I’m a much better risk taker than I used to be and also willing to take on situations in the market, or in life,  that I wouldn’t have done before I started doing this.

I’ve learnt so much and feel there are still more journey’s to go on. When people use the world risky to me now it almost feels interchangeable with opportunity. I’m looking for it, not shying away. It doesn’t come at any cost though, but you learn that stuff happens you can’t control and it’s more important how you deal it, than trying to avoid in the first place! Trying to avoid all risk, means you often pass over opportunities.
