Billy no mates
Nobody has invited us around this Christmas, so yet again today, our family is hosting everybody for lunch, but I wont be there. I guess somebody needs to earn the money to pay for it 😉 I’ll be locked in my study and making the odd appearance to say hello.
New years day is a busy day in the sporting world. At least the footy is occurring on a different day this year! But the racing is on today, as always and packed to the rafters.
We have 444 runners across seven meetings, but very different meetings. A glance at the card will tell you the importance of some of the races. A ‘Buy your 2016 annual badge today’ race is obviously somewhat less appealing than a grade two at Cheltenham and Cheltenham sticks out as the prime target today.
Prize money at Cheltenham is £116k and averages £16.5k per race, the whole of the Fakenham meeting has prize money of just £20k. So you can see the diverse mixture on the card. Fakenham only has an average of 8.5 runners as well compare to double figures at Cheltenham, Musselburgh and Fairyhouse.
I have generally done well on New Years Day, so that’s why I’m behind my desk. I want to kick start 2016 with some easier opportunities. Today should present that, but mainly at the bigger races, which is where I will be targeting my efforts.
Tomorrow should be ok as well. Good luck and hope you get off to a great start in 2016.
