Trading Frankel
Not as easy at it sounds, as expected. But I did get something from the race. Mainly, as expected again, on Betdaq. In fact Betdaq was pretty favourable yesterday. I think today’s card overall looks a little more interesting and varied, so I’m hopeful of a decent day today.
Frankel’s market was characterised by a drift before the off. I was a bit surprised to see this, but it did also happen at Goodwood. You would have thought people would be backing it off the boards but the pressure was definitely upwards in price. This cost me a decent result on Betfair as I (A) I couldn’t get filled and (B) it then started ‘eating’ away at the wrong price. So I wasted a lot of money on Betfair. Frankel hit 1.23 to back inrunning when being held up. See the graph below for further details.
I guess maybe I should have learnt from Goodwood and leant more on the drift. But I just didn’t think people would be willing to oppose the highest rated horse of all time.
Frankel now heads the ‘Prix de l’arc de triomphe’ antepost market and the Champion stakes at Ascot. I imagine there will be quite a crowd wherever he runs next.
