Gamble fail, trade win
A quiet end to Ascot week, but I’m relieved that I can now return to more ‘normal’ trading patterns.
I did OK on the day, but one trade stood out. The 17:00 at Ascot.
‘Absolutely So’ was gambled massively, more than any horses I think I’ve seen at Ascot. Widely tipped, It had a terrible race and finished 15th in the end. But it highlighted the beauty of trading. You could quite easily see it was being heavily backed, so I followed it; but only from a trading perspective. It’s price continued on it and never seemed like it was going to stop so I managed to get £160 from the gamble, without having a gamble on it!
In hindsight I could have done a lot better, but you can’t deny that £160 whoever won, by trading something that was clearly being gambled; is an elegant way to benefit from situations like this. Typically ‘normal’ punters follow the money when something is gambled, but that would have cost you your stake here. But you can still follow it and profit from it by trading.
That in a nutshell, is why I love trading.
