Tantalising finale
With the impressive Soderling brushing aside Federer in the French Open, we are now set up for a tantalising finale. Will we see a Soderling vs Nadal final? With Soderling having produced a shock last year by knocking out Nadal it looks a tempting prospect.

Manic monday
Seven race cards with generally average fodder on display, good luck if you are having a go. My advise if you are, is to try and pick up on clear opportunities. With so many races on clashing it is inevitable that some markets will be rubbish, but hopefully some will get just inside the required sweet spot. World cup warm up shocker
You could be forgiven, given the English papers this morning, that I was referring to England’s performance against Mexico. But no, this was Portugal’s electric preparation for the World Cup against the Cape Verde islands. Fielding a full strength squad they thrashed Cape Verde 0-0. There is a very busy period ahead of us now for a couple of months. So yesterday I did something I enjoy a lot, just chillin. Nothing unusual in that this match has been priced for a low scoring, tight contest. Inter are being priced for a slight edge and I think the market is right. Unless Bayern get their tactics very right I think Inter are set up well to win.

The European union is often termed the “common market“, a collection of inter-trading free trade economies where goods and services are free to . Unfortunately a lot of the market has nothing in common and there are quite a few trade imbalances in the markets. Until such time as taxation, legislation and spending are centralised I will always be sceptical as to whether the Euro and the trading bloc can continue without significant tensions. Has the feel good spirit started for English sport? The English cricketers comprehensively won the 20/20 Cricket world cup on Sunday, can the English football team respond by wining their world cup? Never was such a word so true. The UK election this morning brought out a true hung parliament where only a coalition amongst truly minor parties can bring a majority government. Not an ideal scenario for a country facing some tough policy decisions. We could have the prospect of a minority of votes electing the government, I think that wouldn’t be acceptable to the populace. While most eyes were firmly focused on Man City vs Spurs last night, a remarkable battle was taking place 200 miles further north for the same place in the Scottish Premiership. Went through my normal routine this morning. The last bit is to nip into the Garden and top up the bird feeders and feed the fish. Big problem this morning was that there were no fish in the pond, all 23 were gone!

Two horse race
So the premiership has narrowed to a two horse race to the line. Chelsea meet Liverpool and Wigan, while Man Utd mean Sunderland and Stoke. Barcelona vs. Inter Milan
I have to admit to being underwhelmed by the champions league this year. There haven’t been many superb matches, certainly not from a trading perspective. Last night wasn’t much different when Bayern Munich demolished Lyon without so much as a last desperate effort from the side that was about to go out. It’s all been a bit disappointing as I love strong incentives to win and things like late goals, that’s where the really big results come from.
