Newmarket July meeting
Felt I should comment on the meeting that is taking place at Newmarket this week.
After a fairly long spell of indifferent racing we are treated to some quality for the next three days. So that should bring some focus to your trading. It’s not an amazing meeting but you should be able to dig out a few opportunities. The higher quality stuff should bring some much needed liquidity to the markets.

Aintree grand national meeting
This is a curious meeting for me each year. It’s not on the scale of some of the really large meetings, but is still a decent meeting in it’s own right. The problem I have here, is that I never seem to pull off anything spectacular from it. On a race by race basis I do now and again, just not consistantly.
That feels odd to me because it’s a decent enough meeting to shoot for some big totals. But …
Good start to a good day
Got up early this morning to give the Caulfield cup a bash and got it just right for a really good result.
We have a ton of really good racing at Ascot today so that should produce some really good potential as well. I am sure everybody will be keen to see Frankel run again and at such short odds you would expect the win to be a formality.

Betfair AGM pt. 2
Having been to many AGM’s in the past I didn’t expect much from Betfair’s first AGM.
I almost didn’t get in as Betfair were blocking access to people who have nominee accounts. Not many people own shares directly any longer, but I’d never been blocked access to an AGM before despite this. When Betfair listed I took a look at the prospectus and felt the company was fairly richly valued given the outlook and nature of the IPO.
