What a joy!
How wonderful to actually get some decent racing on Saturday, even it we didn’t have a full card. The Cheltenham trials is always a good practice ground for the festival in March and I was desperate for the meeting to go ahead, so was delighted to hear the optimism of the clerk of the course on Friday which proved correct come Saturday morning. Leopardstown was quite fun to trade as well.
Now we dodged that hurdle, the rain has arrived …
Echo’s of 2008, only worse…
I was browsing the latest list of abandoned meetings and thinking about whether we have ever had a worse summer? When I was driving back from Heathrow this morning it rained so hard that all the traffic stopped on the motorway, not encouraging. It’s really disappointing that so many sports, not just racing, are falling by the wayside. But At least it means I can get some rest after a manic start to the summer.

Lacklustre start to evening racing
Looking out the window I see is droughting down again. Just got into the office today, having had the morning off to relax and get ready for a full weekend of sporting action.
We have the Guineas meeting over the weekend and of course the FA Cup final tomorrow. Fingers crossed we don’t get many more abandoned meetings because it’s really put a damperner on the start of the evening racing season. It’s usually nice to get tucked into all …
