Saturday sees one of the world’s richest horse races take place at Meydan, the Dubai World Cup.

Over the years I’ve moved from dabbling in the Meydan markets to doing them seriously. They often make for a useful addition on a dull Thursday in the UK during the winter.

I’ll often recommend a dabble in these markets if the volume is holding up and there is no clashing with other races. As for the big race itself, the World Cup, it must be one of few where the prize money dwarfs the turnover on Betfair!

I once got a fantastic result from this race last year. It just happened that everything fell into place perfectly. I’m not expecting a repeat this year, but I usually pull something useful out of the race and the card this Saturday. That’s why I recommend you have a

The big race this year is scheduled for 16:30, which clashes with a race at Kempton. I’d much prefer a time after the UK racing, so that’s why I’m less optimistic this year. Also, volumes haven’t been as strong as in prior years recently, so I’m thinking that could make this fall a little short as well.

It will, however, be one of my main focal points of the weekend.

Here is hoping that this year is favourable.

    Speaking of world cups, there will probably be markets for the World Cup in Qatar soon, are you going to trade there :)?

      World cup markets can be good trading markets, not sure what is going to happen in Qatar! Not even sure you can have a bet in Qatar, amongst many other things.
